Julie's "God is My Refuge" Series was a year in the making. It grew out of her study of the Hebrew words translated Refuge or Stronghold in the Old Testament. There are seven different Hebrew words and six concern our relationship with God. In the exhibition, Julie has brought together paintings, scripture and meditations with her own paraphrased definitions of these six Hebrew words. There are 10 paintings in all, one or two for each of the words. Several churches have combined the exhibition with a worship service. The service is about an hour long and includes worship music and a power-point presentation which combines the paintings, the Hebrew words, scripture readings, reading of the meditations, and songs of worship.
